In a reseach paper i read on Reseach Gate, an experiment was conducted on rats using boiled coconut husk and the effect was amazing.

In the research, The anti-diabetic properties of Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Husk were investigated in a group of 21 alloxan-induced diabetic rats (n=7). Group I was the control group, and groups II and III were the experimental groups. The rats were given 150 mg/kg alloxan intraperitoneally to make them diabetic. Cooking the husk in boiling water for 45 minutes over a gas stove flame at 100 degrees Celsius yielded the extract, which was then filtered out and used as the tea for the experiment.

The rats were given 2 ml of 0.9 percent (normal) saline daily, 2 ml of coconut husk tea only daily, 1g of Daonil and 4g of Mephomine daily via Oro-gastric tube, and random blood sugar levels were monitored daily. A computerized electronic weighing scale was used to monitor the rats’ weights on a regular basis.

The animals were killed at the end of the tests, and the pancreas was extracted and histopathology slides were created. Blood glucose levels in diabetic rats were considerably decreased (p 0.05) after ingestion of the extracts and medications, with the Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Husk extract having the highest impact.

The rats given the extracts (coconut husk tea) and those given Daonil and Metformine had the same regeneration capacity in the histopathological investigation. In alloxan-induced diabetes, cocos nucifera (coconut) husk tea was found to have substantial hypoglycemic and anti-diabetic benefits.

This impact is equivalent to the combination of Daonil and Metformine, suggesting that it might be a useful adjuvant in the treatment of diabetic mellitus.

As a result of the experiment on the rats, it was sugguest by the paper that such a research should be conducted in a human host. Read full paper here
